‘This is a book so relevant for todays time. Brad Taylors knows how to keep the reader gripped on the edge of their seat’

Synopsis:

The Taskforce finds an ex-member in serious trouble. Clifford Delmonty was working at an Australian F 35 facility when he saw something he shouldn’t have. Now he’s on the run from Chinese agents. As the threat of conflict reaches boiling point, Pike Logan, top Taskforce operator, realises that what is being seen is not what is happening. With the help of a Taiwanese intelligence agent, he races to prevent a catastrophic conflict from consuming a whole region of the world and the lives of his teammates.

My thoughts:

This is the fifteenth Pike Logan in the bestselling series, a series which continues to thrill and entertain. Here we find Pike somewhat inadvertently thrown into the action, as he and his team battle Chinese agents, agents who are out to stop them at all costs.. What you have in essence is a political thriller by one of the best authors in the field, and an author that clearly knows their subject matter. The narrative is strong throughout.

As the book begins you can feel yourself being immersed and drawn into Logans world, once in you will be hooked as you watch the action ratchet up, there is plenty of drama and tension throughout. The storyline itself feels fresh and perfect for today, the book is superbly plotted and thought out, you certainly get a feel for the geo-political landscape of the region.

The author cleverly keeps you second guessing as to where the story and action will take you and what the outcome may be, the story flows with plenty of twists and turns, however, one thing you can rely on is the relentless pace of the chase as the action moves between countries.

I also enjoyed the interplay between his new boss George Wolffe and the security agencies, providing another dimension to the story, showing he will be his own man and not just follow in the footsteps of his predecessor.

Whist I have been fortunate to be with the series from the beginning, do not be fooled into thinking you have to have read any of the previous books, this easily reads as a standalone, also I suspect you will be hooked and then go back to the beginning.

One thing I particularly like about Logan as a character is that whilst he is no nonsense, he is also a team player, not a lone individual and that decisions are taking to protect those around him whilst at the same time seeking the necessary results to take down the bad guys, As a character Pike Logan is right up there with best.

Thanks to the Authors past, one thing you are guaranteed is a sense of realism, which runs throughout the book

I would recommend reading the acknowledgments at the end as they give an extra dimension to the story.

5* addictive thriller by an Author that knows how to engage and enthrall the reader. A highly recommended book and series.
